Another day at Shark Tooth
Posted by Elio under Blogroll
Sorry for my blogging absence. I have been extremely busy with gallery demands and have painted well into the night for the past week.
Last week I visited Shark Tooth Beach yet again. (see previous post) This time I painted on the north side of the beach and once again I decided to change the light half way into the painting. Sigh. I don’t know what it is but the early morning light at this location just isn’t interesting enough to keep it. I prefer painting the shadows in the cove later in the day. I painted till a bit after sunset and completed five paintings. Here are two out of the five painted. The last painting (bottom right) is my favorite that is always my favorite time of the day. The sun is setting and color is everywhere. No time to think…just PAINT. I loved the contrast between the sun hitting the rocks and the mist.

I loved the color that much!
Sadly over three days (they fell apart on the fourth) I only completed 13 paintings, keeping 8.
Thank you to that wonderful, thoughtful someone who knows I LOVE painting fresh flowers.

From the looks of it, this was worth the wait to see!! Staying till sunset made for incredible light and color! These are stunning, Elio! Hats off!
Take a bow. These pieces stand head and shoulders above everything else out there . . .no easy accomplishment!
Congrats!

Stunning-I am growing tulips-lot’s of tulips to keep you in supply. Perhaps a peony or two as well.
I’m also ready to grab that glass of Cab–Napa would definately be a good trip.
You and your work are a gift!

Bill,
Thank You for your kind words. Good news…I am currently in talks with a gallery in Portland. I am keeping in tight lipped for now because it still early but I love Portland and we need to do some painting.

Ellen,
Thank you for the kind words.
If you can grow good Tulips in California I am there. Armed with Criselda’s info…I set out to paint some bottles with very vague logos.
I tried writing little disclaimers at the bottom of each painting but it seemed to distract from the overall look. Heh.

I join the cheering crowds… these are truly incredible.
I keep staring at the “Davenport Cove at Sunset” one - the orange in the backlit rocks, the purple that talks to it - that is sheer poetry!

I love that spot, have painted there many times, but didn’t realize it was called “Shark’s Tooth”. Certainly well named. Great work, as always. You’re one of the hardest working artists I know. Cheers!

Thank you!
Coming from you that means a lot. I know you have put in your hours too.
