I have stayed out late painting plein air and then cleaning up the paintings later that evening and then working on still lifes well into the night.
I keep telling myself and the people around me that I need a break but the truth is…I can’t stop.

Elio,
I love the 12×16’s of the similar landscape in different light - I was going to say I like the brighter one better, but then I decided I liked them both equally for their qualities! What really blows me away is how a number of these paintings work - on some the color is pushed hard and yet the image feels so true.
From afar the 12×16 ocean has a very soft but strong feel to it, and yet up close you have these strokes of pushed color which create a lot of excitement … pretty much like viewing the actual scene from afar and then up close. At least that’s how I “see” them - very nice! G

You know it is interesting to see the 5×7 ocean/rocks next to the 12×16 ocean/rocks. I know a lot of this can be due to the smaller size of the one painting being viewed at the same size as the larger - still I see the effect that more values/halftones has on the image … seeing these two images side-by-side really makes the point. Hope that made sense. G

OH NO… i love that distant marsh so much it hurts. These are tremendous. They tear the heart out and stomp all over it.

I haven’t been over here lately and I missed these fantastically colorful works. I agree that you control the color very well considering how pushed it is. I ‘feel’ these paintings. Happy painting Elio
