Since starting this blog I have opened the floodgates to many questions.

Today I spent nearly three hours answering emails from the previous week. I don’t want to discourage questions but I would like to remind everyone to please ask any questions in the FAQ Section. This way most of the questions will be answered for future viewers.

Coming Soon… Many of the questions have to do with my palette. Let me be the first to say there is no miracle paint, no magic brush and no formula to painting. Any combination of colors will yield good result. You can achieve the same results with five colors as I could with 17.

So why do I use 17?

Simply because it allows me to paint faster because I don’t have to mix as much. But to satisfy your curiosity I will be adding a section just dedicated to my palette.

For those of you sending me locations to painting sites, please keep them coming I love new locations.

What is it about color that inspires artists so much?

For the past two days I have been locked away in my studio framing and shipping paintings for upcoming shows and I am miserable. Everyday is like a kaleidoscope of colors and my windows taunt me with little glimpses of todays inspiration.

One of my students recently wrote me and said, “all I can think about is color and paint. Not the best thing when I should be working.”

It is not by his mixing and choosing, but by the shapes of his colors, and the combination of those shapes, that we recognize the colorist. Color becomes significant only when it becomes form. (Clive Bell)
Painting in the fog is all about COLOR. The shapes of things are lost…the values changes are subtle…but everywhere there is color!

Some recent early morning fog paintings. Enjoy!!
