Plein Air

Last week I taught a workshop in beautiful Leiper’s Fork in Franklin Tennessee. Wow! What a gorgeous place and a must see area if you are ever near Nashville.

The workshop could not have been better. The students were AMAZING! I can’t say enough about how I was treated and the energy they all brought to the class was inspiring.

If only I had the talent to express in words the amount of fun I had there.

I would like to thank “y’all” for a great time….

See ya in October!

Lately I have found it difficult to put the paint brush down.

I have stayed out late painting plein air and then cleaning up the paintings later that evening and then working on still lifes well into the night.

I keep telling myself and the people around me that I need a break but the truth is…I can’t stop.

I have lived in California nearly all of my life and I made my first trip to Yosemite this past week.

WOW!!! Sensory overload…GOD ALL THAT COLOR! I am a little speechless because I never expected the color. I have painted in a lot of beautiful places but the only thing in my opinion more surreal and colorful is Crater Lake in Oregon. Yosemite is truly a colorist’s paradise.

The above painting will be at The Vault Gallery in Sonora, Ca for the Yosemite Show.

I almost didn’t post this painting because the jpeg format is butchering the color. It loses all the subtle temperature changes and grays that makes a painting beautiful. Oh well….
